Margaret Jean Westby, Ph.D. is a transdisciplinary multimedia artist, researcher, and educator interested in examining and re-imagining accountability in human and machine-based relations. She is currently teaching dance studies at the University of Malta. She received her PhD Humanities-Interdisciplinary (Fine Arts) doctorate degree from Concordia University in Canada. Her dissertation “Empowering the Female Machine” makes a mess of dance through feminist Science and Technology Studies (STS). She studied digital performance through earlier degrees in New York City (BA Marymount Manhattan College) and in London, England (MA Brunel University). She has created and collaborated in art performances, installations, and films throughout Canada, Europe, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, and the United States. As a techno-feminist dancer, she continues to promote kinesthetic awareness in the areas of interactive media arts, movement, technology, and identity politics.
